Is anyone having a go at going meat and dairy free just for January? If so, how is it going?

Also, would anyone try this if it was available in the UK?

I'm more likely to do just the opposite ie, survive solely on meat and dairy products.
I would have liked to give it a go - I coukd manage without meat i'm sure. It's milk and chocolate that would be the sticker for me
January is depressing enough I can't do without cheese :)

I'm no sure about the synthetic meat, I find the thought off-putting but on the other hand I'm sure a lot of the food we buy now is just as fake! I think in the future it may become quite normal though.
There are some lovely vegan chocolates around and some vegan cheeses are actually nice, especially a violife Greek style. Not me but granddaughter does

Thanks Khandro, I very rarely drink anyway so Dry January is just, well, January for me ;o)
I could live without meat, but I’ve got a load of cheese to get through still. Don’t fancy the lab-grown ‘meat’.
yes I would try lab grown meat. I have been a vegetarian in the past but vegetable protein/vegetable diet doesn't suit my digestion. No I am not going to try vegan living.
Sorry, but no thank you. I always feel better both physically and mentally when I eat animal products. Too many veg leave me bloated, and some cause joint pain.
And why on earth would anyone want to eat lab grown food?
I understand and fully support vegetarianism but veganism looks more like self harming, denying yourself stuff that is readily and freely available from animals that aren’t suffering whilst providing produce.
Why deny yourself things like honey?
pasta, you are the first person I have seen who has said that besides me! I can't eat as much fruit and veg as I would like to, certainly nowhere near 5 a day, and have the same problem with legumes and unrefined carbs. If I did have to go veggie then I would have to mostly eat potatoes, white pasta and white bread!!
No.
Woof...if I had to eat that, I'd put on 2 stone in no time. And I'd not be able to subsist on nuts as they cause an itchy mouth. Nor do I eat wheat.
For me, veg is usually a garnish on my plate. But I'll happily eat a whole pack of salmon or cod...or belly pork. :))
Up to people whether they choose to do this but fed up of having it rammed down our throats(!) with tv adverts and programmes promoting it. Just get on and eat what you like and leave me to eat what I like.

What stuff are you talking and where can I buy it ? is this stuff expensive ?
Veganism can take a running jump as far as I'm concerned. A few of our meals would be classed as vegan, several more as vegetarian but we also eat meat in moderation and loads of fish. A balanced diet in other words.
I can only think of eggs that are given freely by the bird -they lay them regardless, and usually leave them around to be picked up if and when necessary. Every other animal product requires human intervention and is not given 'freely' - even honey!
The Dairy industry is the cruelest of all, yet people don't give dairy cows a second thought usually.

Sound like a load of gavage lankeela.
I've just done 12 months without meat but don't think I could be vegan long-term. Seems little point in doing it for a month but I do agree that the dairy industry is a pretty unpleasant place. If you're doing the vegan thing though there are some really great recipes on Instagram
Can do part of the challenge.. will be Dairy free and only drink vegan wine..Promise scouts honour!
