They can be cooked and eaten in all the same ways as potatoes....with or without skins.

I personally like them roasted, although they won't go crispy. Chipped and fried are nice too or try cutting them with a slicer and deep frying them for crisps.

Good Luck!

definately roasted.....

peel the sweet potatoes, cut int approx 1" cubes, boil for about 10 mins, put on a baking tray, sprinle on a little paprika and cayenne pepper - bake on gas 6 for about 25-30 mins. serve in the same way as normal pots.

they won't go crispy though but are still lovely!

Definitely roasted. No need to preboil, just peel and cut to approx. same size as roasting potatoes. They will not take as long as potatoes to cook so add them to the potato roasting tray about halfway through cooking time

you can also use them as jackets they are meant to be very tasty. in the oven for an hour or microwae for 5 - 10 mins and you dont need butter cos they taste nice enough without it

I agree, roasted is best, with olive oil. Add a handful of peeled whole garlic cloves and roast them too. Serve with a big dollop of mayo, scrummy.

Roasting is great but mashing them is also wonderful.

  • Peel and cut 2 medium sweet potatoes into cubes.

  • Add one roughly chopped deseeded red chilli and steam.

  • Add a knob of butter, mash and serve.

This is also great if you mix it with steamed butternut squash.
