how soon would you get your xmas food in like the savouries (frozen food) - sometimes by the time one gets around to it - the good food has gone.

I had a bah-humbug Christmas last year and I was miserable and so I said never again. I am making a big effort this year - bought a beautiful tree in June and Star so looking forward to putting that up.

I have loads of decorations in the attic but can't be a%sed getting them down as the attic door is too heavy for me.

A little story - I went to my cousin's daughter (whom I love) last year for dinner - she had all the decorations up and on her hall wall - the most magnificent velvet scoll of the Old Daddy Christmas sitting by the fire - little toys, presents, armchair. You put a battery into the back of it and it flickers with lovely lights.

I asked the daughter - oh that is beautiful - she said laughing "you gave it to me". Jeepers. Must have been out of my mind.

If you are getting frozen savouries you could start bit by bit now providing you have freezer space.

Bobbs - you are going to be one busy lady.
I've started getting a few frozen 'nibbles' in every time I do my weekly shop, because, as you say, sometimes the good stuff goes before Xmas. Also my Aldi Xmas Pud is bought as they ran out of small ones last year and I had to get one as big as a football -only me and my daughter eat it so the hens got most of it.
It’ll be all hand together on the 13th JJ,it’ll me like a military operation with one doing the veg, one doing the table and one doing the prawn cocktail , it’ll be fun tho
Got some already and some being delivered on Sunday the rest I will get as of when I see them
Probably next week once I've ran the freezer down a bit. I still don't know who is coming and when.

I will only buy things I'd eat on a regular basis anyway.
Started buying bits and bobs for the freezer already, like you say jj while there is still plenty of stuff in the shops.
I don't have to get a lot but most of the storecupboard stuff is bought already. I am running down the freezer to make space but I don't buy a lot of party frozen stuff. I do get frozen luxury food but I buy that all year round when I see it reduced
I buy the party food in the days after Christmas when it's usually heavily reduced in Waitrose! It cheers up a dreary January.
