Teen Smow is at airport with his two best friends, actually sat in plane on runway, ready to take off for their first ever ‘boys’ weekend abroad, when pilot suddenly has just announced that there is a problem with the flight control and he has called an engineer out. How unlucky is that!! Feel so bad for them. In all my years of holidays I’ve not once had that.

Engineer on plane. Has done a basic reset but didnt work so going to power down the plane and do a more complex reset. I’m now sat here really really stressed that they’re sat on a faulty plane!!
Switch it off.
Switch it on again.

That cures most things.

Complex reset hasn’t worked. They’re going to be switched to another plane, just no idea when!
Happened to me and a friend flying back from Lanzarote,we were sat on the plane on our return journey where all you want is to be home, they'd closed the doors so the cabin was pressurised ,we sat on the tarmac for over 4 hours, nightmare !
In 2009 we sat in the plane on the tarmac for 5 hours at Manchester Airport. The re-fuelling vehicle had pulled away from the plane with the fuel hose still attached. We didn't find that out until 4 hours in. Why they didn't evacuate the plane in those circumstances is beyond me. And the flight delay compensation scheme wasn't around then. It was 11 pm when we landed in Florida; 1 am when we got to the villa, to find there had been a pipe burst and the villa was flooded. The Sunshine State! Wonderful!

Oh blimey! I just feel so so bad for them. They’ve saved for ages for this first ever weekend. They’ve got a trip booked today which they’re probably not going to make. They’re only away for the weekend so every hour is vital. But I keep saying WHAT IF a problem had developed in the air! At the end of the day it’s just time isn’t it.
Where are they off to Smow?
Question Author
Would you believe - Amsterdam!! Yes I know how it sounds lol, but they’d booked day trips to football stadium, Heineken factory(I think).... loads of sightseeing.
Fortunately it's only a shortish flight so let's hope they're transferred to another plane and make their trips
We were five hours into a flight from London to Vancouver when the pilot announced that there was a problem with one of the engines. We had to go back to London and start the journey all over again. So we flew for ten hours and then had to start again!

That five hour return journey was very scary.
Tilly, returning from Malta after half an hour of the flight, the Captain announced that the aircraft "had developed a fault" and we would be returning to Luqa. Turns out there was a cracked window near the front of the plane but the annoying thing was that we were told we would be back in the air inside 1 hour. 5 hours later, we took off. I got £400 compensation from Air Malta and I have never used them since.
I can't read this thread anymore!!

Hope they sort it out ASAP.
