Why is the manufacturing of the film lid covers so poor?

You are often asked to stir after so long but they never peel back and you end up with a pathetic strip in your hand!

I never ever stir them during cooking

woofgang, I usually give up and don't bother!
I shake them rather than try to peel.

Mamya, the instructions usually say 'Peel back film lid' but why state that when it's virtually impossible!!
I sympathise, many are useless.

I sometimes decant into a microwavable container and put my own lid on.

Mainly cos the peely-back flimsy plastic thingy didn't peel back :-D

gness that's gotta be a BA!! LOL
Blame the second glass of wine, Ag...... and thank you..... :-)

gness, something has to give you a warm feeling inside ;-))
Try Wiltshire Farm Foods. Their lids peel no problem and come off in one piece. You don't have to pierce them either before cooking.

Thanks for that Jackdaw ;-)
It does, Ag..... and wine comes a close second.

Yikes! ;-)
Because they have no incentive to reduce profit by developing and using anything better. You still buy the product don't you ?

Far too many things are unfit for purpose but we make do as there's no real alternative. (Toilet paper being a blatant example. And the waste water system that the industry keeps blaming the public for when it blocks, is another. I'm sure you could add thousands more.)
I concur with mamya a shake is as good as a stir.

OG //Far too many things are unfit for purpose but we make do//

I think that just about sums things up perfectly.

I remember the late Terry Wogan appearing on Room 101 and one of his bugbears was packaging.

He comically told a story about the challenges posed in trying to obtain a product(s) from its packaging.

So many items take an age to reach!!
Rather than prick the film lid with a fork I used to peel it back and cover again before putting it in the microwave. Made it a lot easier if contents required stiring half way through cooking.

That's just the problem though - peeling it back!
