I’ve made jams loads of times and other than strawberry never setting I do ok with it.

Yesterday I got some Savin oranges to make marmalade for the first time.

I don’t like marmalade anyway but this lot seems to taste very bitter to me.

I might have to check the lot out if it has all gone wrong.

It sounds like too much pith.
How is the sweetness?
If it is sweet enough you could add a little salt just a tiny bit at a time.
Or you could turn it into a chutney

Thanks

How would I make chutney out of it now?
Add apples, dried fruit, ginger, star anise and some salt. Should just about do it.
A bit of wine or cider vinegar too maybe?
Yes or a bit of balsamic
Did you do twice sugar to oranges?

Well that’s a turn up for the books.

OH got home and even though I told him it was a giant fail he tried some....

....

....

And loved it!!! He’s had a marmalade sandwich and just spooned it into his mouth.

I said it was too bitter and tasted like when you sink your teeth into an orange peel and it leaves a horrid taste in your mouth for ages. But he said no it was nice and could even do with being more bitter.

No accounting for taste.
Brilliant won’t go to waste
Good result! Men can be comical at times!
What on earth are Savin oranges?
