How long do you have to get your frozen food back from the supermarket and into your freezer before it defrosts too far to be re-frozen?

depends what the food is, how you store it and what the ambient temperature is. Small icecreams on a hot day in a plastic carrier bag, not long, large frozen turkey in an insulated bag on a cold day, ages
And stuff in sealed bags, like veg, as long as the bag stays sealed, then I would think that could safely defrost and be frozen again.
