I have a saucepan full of stock which I'd like to freeze, but no suitable containers. I have some zipup plastic bags, but that feels very wobbly! I have some glass jars can I use them?

How do you freeze liquids, What to do for the best?

I put a plastic bag in say a basin or container....pout liquid in freeze it take bag out and tie it up and out container away put bag in freezer.
Ziplock bags (good ones) are my preferred method - get most of the air out before zipping & then stand them (carefully) upright in a freezer drawer. Once frozen they use much less space than plastic tubs & there is less air in contact with the contents.
I use bags Maydup. They're ok when they've frozen and don't take up as much room as boxes.
** pour ...then put container away....
Avoid glass jars - the liquid will be expand when it freezes and the glass could crack
If the saucepan fits in the freezer......just freeze it in that. When frozen run the base and sides under a hot tap, drop the frozen block into the plasic bag, back in the freezer.
Have you got an ice cube tray?

Of course, I could put the bag in a bowl to fill it, get the air out and zip lock. I'll give it a try once the stock has cooled down. Is it best to half fill the bags?
Freezer bags/ziplocks inside empty fruit juice cartons....nice and stable. When frozen, slide them out and they stack easily.
Think about how much you'll need of the stock each time you want to use it - then fill the bag(s) with that amount?

No room in the freezer for the saucepan, and I did think of an ice cube tray, but I shall probably use the stock in slightly larger quantities. I'll give the wibbly wobbly bags a go!
Bought some zip lock bags specifically for fluids. They have a larger, more stable bottom!
I freeze all liquids/casseroles in re-used plastic tubs (surely you must have some?) and then put in plastic bags when frozen.
Last time I froze soup I just put it in ordinary sandwich plastic bags and tied the tops. Put in freezer drawer carefully and all was well.
I have a larger more stable bottom too Jake :) x
When you get to my age, Kval you'll really have to work at keeping your bottom stable..... ;-)

Do not use glass jars for reason stated by Toorak ^^^. They have been known to shatter.
Either ice cube tray or kilner jars
