If you click on the links here you'll be able to read loads of reviews for each recipe (thus meeting your 'tried and tested' requirement):

Ah sorry, I should have said buffet style, cold.

Thanks for the link Chris, I cant scroll down it at the moment, probably because I'm on my phone. I tried google earlier but having trouble with that too, I will try later when I get home on the laptop.
i like edamame hummus, its reasonably easy to make and spread on small pastry tarts with goats cheese is nice

oh making indian snacks like samosas and onion bahji's , cous cous salads, watermelon, mint and feta salad is nice
If egg eaters, then Rice Patties go down well.
(Left-over rice, eggs, milk, spicy as you like, fried. Hot or cold)

Paneer bhurji (looks a bit like an interesting version of scrambled eggs) - again, nice hot, still nice cold.

Simpler: roast chopped onions with fresh ginger, then small or chopped aubergines. Mine get scoffed hot, and if any left they disappear overnight.

Shout for fuller recipes.

sweetcorn frittas are nice cold - you could make frittata as well
Baba Ganoush - baked aubergines mixed with spices lovely with pitta and veg to dip.
Mini Goats cheese tarts
vietnamese spring rolls with a chilli/soy dipping sauce, i've never made them but they look lovely,
I'd buy some bits in as well, ....
I would buy artisan breads and have some simple cheeses and maybe some mushroom pate, . The worst thing you can do is spend so much time in the kitchen you can't enjoy yourself.
Iceland do veggie party food, it's not bad . You might want to upgrade the dipping sauces.
Question Author
I like the sound of most of those, I think i'll definitely try the baba ganoush, thanks for the ideas.
Question Author
Am going to get some breads Rowan, we have a lovely farm shop nearby, they have an artisan baker, one bread nicer than the other.
Rowan says "Iceland do veggie party food, it's not bad ".

As a vegetarian (and a cook), I would beg to differ! Well, my experience of their buffet-type foods is about 15 years old, so might be out of date, but back then it was edible, but not thrilling...

Trouble with dips is you have to put them into individual ramekins so that people don't double dip into them.
Question Author
I agree 237Sj, but I thought if I made a large batch hopefully people would put it on their plates with the vegies/pittas to dip. I'll be giving Iceland a miss, as I only need a couple of dishes but thanks for the advice Bill
just for good measure dont forget the cheese board, always a reliable option for us veggies. Any baby new potatoes.
Puy lentils, cubed cooked beetroot, feta + whatever oil/balsamic/garlic dressing you like. A sure crowd pleaser.
When it comes to easy homemade vegetarian recipes mostly, people are looking for great Indian Flavours in their dish. Mushrooms Takatak counts as one of the best vegetarian recipes to compliment with rice, naan or bowl of rice.
Mushroom Takatak:
Preparation-:
Heat Olive Oil in a pan.
Saute ginger garlic paste and diced onions.
