Read a few posts on these last night and think I would like a one.

According to some posts - some can do big families and some suit 1 or people - I don't want a monstrosity on my table.

Anybody tell me of a small and effective one. Gness liked the Philips but loved the Lidl one - but how to buy the lIDL one online etc.

Any other ideas would be appreciative. thanks

I have the Tefal actifry and love it..there are other less expensive ones available...look on AMAZON

thanks murray - but what should I look for - some cook a few food pieces together and others not - do you look for - how many literes etc - or what. thanks
my Tefal is adequate for 2 persons servings.. I think some air fryers are stacked so more can be cooked at any given time..I sometimes put different things in a different stages.. IE chips in for 15 mins then place atop a sausage roll or quiche or pie etc... meat in first and perhaps croquettes for the last 10 mins...
Question Author
well well well - bought one this morning in Lidl. Hope I do use it.

After reading the instructions as you do - there are no recipes for the air frying - just a few basics. Do I need to buy a book of recipes. thanks
trial and error Conne... treat it like a hot fan oven !
Jenny, there are plenty of recipe books for the air fryer.
Question Author
ok - until I get the recipe book anybody tell me where to start

pork chops - (always too tough for me when I cook them) - do I use a little oil

steaks (do I use a little oil) - can I throw onions on the steak at the time of cooking

chips (do I use a little oil)

any other wee tips will be appreciated. Thanks
Jenny, for the pork and streaks just a little oil rubbed in, for the chips one or two teaspoons of oil depending how many chips you are cooking. However I would a advise a recipe book as this will be all new to you.

hi - was going to experiment on this - but there is a little plastic cover over the "push forward" - it does look removable to me and I tried to lift it off with a knife - my neighbour who is very good tried to take it off as well but was afraid thinking the little cover actually belongs to the unit. Anybody help again Silvercrest.
Which Silvercrest model is it Jenny?
Question Author
i;ll run down and look
Question Author
1500ww - also looked at the unpacked picture on the box and this little plastic cover seems to stay on it - if so there is hardly any "give" on the button
Question Author
well it seems the little plastic cover is necessary - I am assuming it is to cover the black push button from future fat.

have now a couple of sausages on just to experiment LOL. It's like when I got the microwave about 30 years ago - I made my first meal - put the potatoes, meat and vegies all at the one time.

You could have used it all as bullets for a rifle.
