Most Wanted Chardonnay, South Australia, 13% abv.

This excellent example of one of the world's most versatile and widely-planted grapes is brimming with ripe, juicy flavours of citrus and stone fruits with a background hint of tropical fruit for good measure. Powerful and refreshing with zero oak, this wine would accompany, but not overpower, most foods but could equally be enjoyed on its own on a pleasant summer's evening. Available at Tesco for the offer price of £5.50 (down from the normal price of £6.50).

Cono Sur 'Bicicleta' Gewurtraminer (100%), Chile, 13.5% abv

Cono Sur's Bicicleta wines are a tribute to the workers who cycle around the estate tending to the wines in order to produce the very best quality grapes. This rich and mouthwatering wine really delivers intense flavours of orange blossom and lychee, with a good dose of rose petal on the finish. Greenish yellow in colour, it is well-balanced and concentrated but somewhat cooling on the palate. This racy little number would stand up well to all kinds of asian fayre, even on the spicier end of the scale. Available in Tesco for the normal price of £7.50.

**Tesco are currently offering 25% off 6 bottles or more of all wines and champagne on delivery - valid until 28.05.18.**

Another plug from me for the excellent Rude Wines of Hereford - nice people and excellent wines (and no - I don't get any sort of kickback from them) : https://www.rudewines.co.uk/voucher/ Currently drinking their house red - bought a case of 15 last week and it's every bit as good as I remembered from the original selection box :...

Glad you and sunny-dave do the Wines NoMercy, You are both very good at recommendations.Keep up the good work

Thanks, Redman. I think it's useful for non oenophiles too, as it can serve to recommend wines for people who are having guests for dinner and don't know what to offer with the food.

I shall be raising a toast to the Royal couple tomorrow night. Probably with white wine rather than bubbles.
dannyk13 is wrong...Aldi DO do (free) home deliveries on wine...I've had several deliveries of their wine.

Question Author
Thanks for letting us know that, Gingejbee.
Gingerjbee, Thank you,I assumed that as they do not do grocery deliveries that they would not deliver wines.
Question Author
They probably use a courier for the wine, Danny. There's likely to be a minimum purchase order too.

I went earlier and picked up a red, white and a sparkling. The store was very quiet for a Saturday ... I wonder why that was ... ;-)

Aldi Grüner Veltliner - no longer available for delivery - but still in my local store for £4.99 - a great drink for a hot day - crisp (but not over dry) and great with canapés (or 'nibbles' as we proles call them).

Question Author
The Gruner Veltliner is really rather good, isn't it...

It marginally eclipses Lidl's counterpart.

Another one not to miss is Aldi's Godello. This achingly cool grape variety from our Spanish cousins is probably going to usurp the mighty Albarino in the popularity stakes within the next decade.
Question Author
That's at least 2 x BAs you've had today, Dave ;-)
Blimey - have I won the Lottery & you lot know before I do?
Question Author
If you do win the lottery, Dave, I would be delighted to help you celebrate... You, me, gness ... what could possibly go wrong?
