You order a double Armagnac "NO ICE!" at the end of a large expensive meal in a restaurant and it appears 10 minutes later loaded with ice cubes. You tell the waiter that you specified "no ice" and he returns 10 minutes later with what is obviously the same drink with the ice cubes hooked out with a fork because it looks like a triple and tastes like it has been diluted with melted water.

I didn't complain because someone else paid for it, but...

Reminds me of the Hard Rock Cafe in Paris. We were seated next to a young couple who looked seriously peed off. After a long time waiting for any staff to even offer us a drink, the young couple received their drinks which were full of ice. They told the waiter they'd asked for no ice so sent the drinks back.
Some time later, while the children we'd brought with us for a treat looked at the movie memorabilia, neither we nor the young couple were getting anywhere with drinks, let alone food, so we left.
The young lady at reception hoped we'd had a good time! Er, no. Pathetic!

I blame America. I went to my my first "little league" game with a family friend a few years ago and our Cokes were totally loaded with ice: literally half a tin stacked with about two pounds of ice ..euch! ...I don't even like Coke but there was no beer.
Yes, ice overload in America, I am always fishing out ice cubes even in soft drinks even though I say ' no ice' as I get upset tummy.
Same with my wife who drinks coke with no ice, comes with ice every time. She always orders her meal with no sauce, guess what, sauce every time!
I was sitting in the kitchen of a cafe chatting to the cook one evening.
A diner had ordered sausages and chips, they smothered them in gravy.
The diner re-iterated "sausages and chips".
They tipped the sausages and chips into the sink, turned the tap on and rinsed them then served them back to the diner.

Hence to say I've never eaten there.
Ice with Armagnac? What were they thinking?
Ozzy, didn't the diner notice the chips were soggy? I'd have sent them back again.
You should have done what? Told us the name of the restaurant?
Let's hope the cubes were hooked out with a fork and not his fingers
Regardless of who was paying you should have asked the waiter to get a fresh drink that had not had any ice in it.

It's only by accepting and grumbling later do we allow slip shod service to continue.

You're right Mamya but hey ...I got over it ;-)

237sj, that worry did cross my mind so I held the glass up and scrutinised the clarity of the drink, it was crystal clear and not murky, so I assumed 'fork job' and not 'finger job' (if you'll pardon the expression).
