Has anyone ever tasted this? My nephew has just been to Sweden and the airport would not let him take it on the plane, even in a tin inside a box! It is fermented salted herring, apparently.

It's apparently the worst-tasting/smelling putrid food on the planet!

What is the worst tasting "food" you have ever tried?

Eeeew...It honestly looks like something you’d expect to see in the sewers or coming from a homeless person who hadn’t washed in years’s deep abscess

Not tried it, but it can't be worst tasting or no one would buy it, and it'd have died out years ago.
Surprised there was no solid lumps left.

In answer to your question, there are so many revolting so called foods around, many of which my family seemed to think funny by telling me it was nice, that finding a worst isn't easy. But I think I need to plump for poppy seeds.
never had it but apparently it's stinks to high heaven but actually is tasty!
An odd coincidence that the same very weird food should be enquired about in a relatively short time frame?
Maybe Surströmming is like buses.
Hey...maybe there will be a third query.
It's an internet craze- my brother-in-law thought it would be fun to buy some and he puked up before he even opened the packet...stupid b#gger!
Isn't there some kind of gross old egg thing that has been mentioned on AB in the past with the warning not to google?
It's not that much of a surprise is it ....
Balut, Prudie.
Hmmmm, the plot thickens.
That's it Talbot x

Sorry, I missed the "link" from the other day, Jahulaye! It's clearly, the "in thing" but I can't imagine why. I have never smelt it but was just about ralphing up just watching the video. I can see why they wouldn't let it on a plane- it is basically a bomb! Imagine it going off in a pressurised cabin.........doesn't bear thinking about...bleurghhhh
