Penderyn Myth. Welsh Single Malt. Or even the Penderyn single malt available at supermarkets Tesco in particular. I have gargled all 3 examples and can recommend.

The Penderyn Port finish is a particular favourite of Mr Islay but I don't think it is under £30
I'm not a fan of Glenlivet but that is stonkingly good value. My friends late father would have been beside himself with excitement and cleared the shelf!
I know Eccles I have bought Mr Islay 2 as it is such a bargain
I will let you into another dark secret although Budlet would not be interested. I have made sure to get in a bottle of Glen Marnoch Limited Release Islay single malt from ALDI.! Superb whisky but is very distinct Peat Smoked taste. If you like that sort of thing do not hesitate.

I'm not a whiskey drinker myself, it all tastes vaguely of rubber to me, but himself is the same as you Budlet, and shies away from peaty or smokey. He's just bought one called Bees, or The Bee, not the liqueur, the whiskey, and really likes it. Another is Singleton, he's just had a snifter of that.
This is a cracking price for a very good 'non peaty' 'non smoky' - I keep a bottle for times when I want a gentle, easy going dram.

Got to be Aberlour.
