No, I'm not having that.
He’s having boiled and roasted bacon joint, boiled potatoes, and cauliflower cheese, I’m having roasted chicken and gravy
That sounds delicious alas, I don't have most of those in the cupboard or freezer and was hungry so needed something quick. Just wolfed down an Egg and Bacon butty which will keep me going for now.
Roast chook, haven't decided which on yet as they are all being annoying, roast potatoes, steamed vegetable medley, roast shallots or braised leeks and a sherry and thyme gravy.

Bought some really delicious lesser known organic apples so am tempted to make a quick apple tart with blackberry compote and creme anglaise depending on the egg situation.
Pizza n chips tonight, followed by apple pie with ice cream.

I spent yesterday evening sobbing, I'd forgotten to buy a cauliflower
(I blame Hopkirk :-D )
For the not so posh, crème anglaise is custard.

So what are you having, Talbot?

Arky, I can plate you some up...

Islay, do you mind cooking different dinners?
Braised lamb shanks, cauli and broccoli cheese, roast potatoes, carrots, roasted baby parsnips and peas...and gravy from the braising stock. We have some choc puds and custard if there is any room...

I'm still full from lunch though.
I find Hopkirk a bit spooky. ;-)
Arky grabs coat..... whoosh!
No not at all, the chicken was just roasted and will do me until I get sick of it then I will freeze the rest and his dinner is enough for tonight and tomorrow and I will then also freeze what's left of the bacon joint.
He's a friendly spook tho Arky :-)
Sort of Jack, it doesn't use corn flour to thicken it either.

Why the 'posh' jibe? I can't help having a classical Cordon Bleu training and using, what to me are, everyday terms.
He is indeed Alba I know him well... on here.

Creme Anglaise sounds better, JD.

Eccles, I'd really love to keep my own chickens. Do they need much care?

Alba, I'll trade you a slice of my homemade bakewell for a slice of your fine pie...
Crème Anglais is thinner than custard more of a sauce than a custard!
done deal NoM, it's stuffed with more Bramleys than I've ever peeled before lol

Jack, that's uncalled for.
NOM, the chooks don't need too much work but your garden will if you let them roam. Destructive doesn't begin to describe them.
Roast beef, roast potatoes, sprouts (for me) green beans (for them) and yorkshire puddings.

No pudding :-(

Our garden looks like something out of a glossy mag - his lordship is very garden proud. I doubt he'll let me have chicken.

At one point in time my late grandparents had 70 chickens and 2 geese.
