Apparently it is. By sheer coincidence I made a chicken pie lastnight served with mash, veg and gravy. Yummy! What's your favourite pie and what do you serve with it?

Steak and ale with chips, garden peas and gravy. My favourite pub does this very well ...
Did you make your own pastry?

I don't eat pastry so rarely serve pies so buy Pukka pies to keep in the freezer for when the others have to fend for themselves.
Steak and Kidney, chips , peas and carrots and lashings of rich gravy.

I buy ready made ummmm. Less faff. Ooh they all sound great meals. Emmie you should treat yourself.
i should i know, but haven't been able to get out much in a while, so perhaps i will when weather gets a little better and i can get to the local shops.

If you do your shopping online you could always pop one in your order
Mamya, my mum used to make a mean steak and kidney pie - but no one I know said they'd eat it if I try to recreate it because of the 'kidney' bit! So unfair!
I know a lot of people don't like offal, I have made it without on occasion but the kidney does add a depth I think.

What gravy do you use Mamya?
i love home made steak and kidney pie with lots of gravy. Haven't had pie and mash for a long while, but the yearning is still there.
Long slow cooking of the steak whatever cut you use gives the gravy, drain most off before you add cooled meat to the pastry.
Quite happy to add an Oxo or stockpot, squirt of Worcestershire sauce and Tom Puree and of course plenty of S&P.
Chicken and mushroom or Chicken and veg. I had an Aunt Bessies Family steak pie yesterday... it was ok meat was nice but overall wasn't a party for my taste-buds.
For a change from all the meat pies. My wife, Ann , does a brilliant apple pie, just a touch of cinnamon and a thick crust.
I would be happy to eat a steak and kidney pie without the steak. I LOVE offal.
Not a great lover of meat pies except a decent Cornish pastie!
