He is having problems with the different types of coffee he is making.
A latte and a petite dejeuner give a full cup. Espresso only just over an inch in the bottom of a mug and a cappuccino only a small amount.
Now we are not clued up very much on different coffees, before he got this we just had decaf instant. If you bought a cappuccino in a coffee bar would you only get a small amount? Likewise an Espresso only small. This is driving him mad, he keeps adding instant coffee to his mug with more water and milk but he is defeating the object of using the machine. Can any coffee experts help please.

Thank you both, I think he needs to find the instructions that came with it. He thought they all would provide a mug full.
We have just bought a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and love it. I think you have to experiment and check a few forums . I have been warming extra milk in the microwave, whipping it up with a devise I bought in Italy and add it to the top of the Milk Coffee pod. Delicious. This weekend whilst doing the weekly shop, we will get some other pods to try.
Caran....put the Tassimo machine in the bin !

Either get a proper Espresso machine, or buy a simple Stove top espresso maker like this :::::::

I am quite sure you can get a mug full. Better reread the instructions !
Espresso is a tiny amount of very strong black coffee !!
That is the entire point of it!

At work where we have coffee for free , I have a double espresso plus a white coffee in a large mug.Otherwise I use Nescafe Azera instant made VERY strong. It is as good as any type of coffee machine.
I have recently discovered Nescafé Azero intenso. Delicious. I was never a coffee man, perhaps one mug a week; now I'm on two mugs a day. Although pricey at about £5 per tin, it works out at about 10p per cup. Try getting a coffee for that in Starbucks.
The very first time I had an espresso in a coffee bar, in Vancouver, I asked the staff to top it up. I felt such a fool when they explained to me that that was how espresso was served.
Cappuccino you get the coffee pod and the creamer pod. If you want more you have to hold the button in and it will fill to the level you want.
^^ That's what I use Jackdaw beats ANY type of coffee machine by miles !
and it's instant!!
Also on special offer at my Morrisons for £2.50 ( I bought 4)
My Morrison's has it on special for £3. 6p a cup if you count milk and sugar. I've only had one cup of tea in the past three weeks whereas before I used to live off the stuff. Never knew coffee could taste so good. I'm now hooked.

I have passed on all the comments, he is going to look into all your helpful remarks and find the instructions and sort himself out!
To anyone who is remotely fond of coffee I recommend the Nescafé Azera Intenso. So easy to make - no need for machines, apart from a kettle. They also do different types in the same range, like Barista and Americano, which I have yet to try.
I'll have a look when I do my shopping tomorrow. I only have one cup of coffee a day but I do like it to be decent coffee.
Yes I have to use 2 pods for a decent cup.
I recently bought one of these for the MIL with lots of top up pods. For the cappuccino you need two pods. The pods say 'me first' 'me second'
