Laxatives As A Remedy?

I realised the other day after being completely inflamed and unable to move, that I felt a thousand times better after getting good poisoning and diarrhoea. I've noticed it before when having colonoscopies- when I take the laxatives I always feel so much better. Less ill, less inflammation, lighter, more normal. I feel better with no food in me. Food seems to cause my joints to if lame and my ability to walk to cease.
Also the very cold weather seems to help a lot too. Is this something other people have experienced and is there any science or logic behind why this might be the case?

no experience of it but is your digestive system perhaps not working properly?

I had ulcerative colitis for many years which I managed to subdue through fasting but I have a lot of problems with joint inflammation and arthritis/hypermobility meaning most of the time I can't stand up or walk.
ah, that all sounds a bit complicated to diagnose though someone like Sqad may be able to help. But food and digestive systems ought to get along with each other, and that doesn't sound as if it's happening.
If joint pain is due to arthritis, there may be some evidence that particular foods can contribute to inflamation. I think it depends on the type of arthritis. You might have to do some experimenting...keep a food/pain dairy.
Meant to add that my joints are worse in cold weather...much stiffer.

Mine are worse in hot or humid weather!

That is a medical myth.
There is no evidence that "washing out " the colon is beneficial in any way....but if it works for you....then it works for you.
pasta...sorry I misread your post.......

Is there any danger in me taking laxatives every now and again for that purpose and can you buy them over the counter that will act in a strong way?
Personally don't think you should be taking laxatives like that, would think it would start messing up your system. I'm sure altering your diet would help you to go to the toilet more.
How about taking a Fibrogel in the evening ?
I think pasta's advice is good - keep a diary, see if you spot any links between certain foods and discomfort.

I have done elimination diets and had a blood test, and know I am intolerant to certain foods like gluten, dairy etc.
But even avoiding them doesn't help my symptoms much, and certainly not as much as just not eating or having food in me.
Have you tried taking probiotics? I don't mean
the yogurt drinks, I mean powders/pills from the health stores.
Question Author
I have tried probiotics, yes- they didn't really touch the sides of all my joint inflammation issues!
