Hi Sqad and everyone,

Still recuperating and hopefully going in the right direction.....BP averaging around 115-125/72-80....Pulse 74-early 90's....No temp....Stools, thanks to Laxido, looser, dark brown and daily....no blood traces present.

Sleeping well....When awaking and throughout day, still getting bad metallic taste in my mouth and bloated feeling...and not alot of energy....Appetite and taste buds not back to normal o or at all.....Am trying to eat, as I know body needs it.... Small Porridge for breakfast....2 cups of weak tea....Hot chocolate and tomato soup for lunch..... Just had dinner... Domino's lunch time 4 slice Pizza with pineapple, which was nice.....will probably have an Activia yogurt later and some grapes.

Just on Omeprazole 2 capsules in morning and 2 in the evening.

When please, Sqad, can I start expecting a return to my usual self and feeling/tasting hungry and foods, which is surely making me feel weaker than usual. I have lost approx 8 lbs in the 2 weeks following my bleed. And what do you think is causing these symptoms?

It's frustrating, as I'm not one to shirk working and want so much to be able to get back to normal.......plus I'm probably driving Mrs Bear and my daughter crazy!

Many thanks, Sqad and everyone :-)

Steady Yogi, you have had a bleed form your upper bowel, blood products are still in your system and you had a fair dose of antibiotics particularly Clarithromycin which does, in many cases upsets the "system." Also your bloating etc may well be a side effect of omeprazole. A bleeding peptic ulcer is not a "walk in the park" and you will take time to recover. Try...

hope you feel better soon Yogi xx
you could browse through this; but it's more likely something to do with your current ailment and treatment, I would imagine

A bleeding peptic ulcer is not a "walk in the park" and you will take time to recover. Try and get some exercise and when the Drs see at at follow up, a repeat blood test will be performed to check that you don't need a "top up."
Steady as she goes.......and no.....there is no hidden agenda here, so don't look for one.....;-)
Hi yogi. What's it been about 10 days? I think at least two weeks from coming out of hospital. Then probably another week or two to get back to yourself. Keep doing what you're doing. You'll get there. Patience! xx

Thank you so very much, Sqad, for putting my mind at rest.....thought it was something I was maybe doing wrong in my recuperation. You are so right......
I've got to be more patient and get better in time, and it has only been 15 days that I went in with the bleed and vomiting.... had blood transfusion..Two weeks today, the endoscopic procedure.....72 hour on drip and antibiotics ...nil by mouth....And a further two days in observation.
Great advice, Sqad and will get more exercise when I can, and get blood test done with GP on follow up appointment, as you advise. :-).....Thanks again.

Thanks Patsy,

I will definitely be patient, my lovely.....and take it easy whilst on recuperation.xx

Good boy. You know it makes sense :-)

Just thought I'd put an update on......Feeling a lot better, appetite slowly, but surely coming back, been out Tuesday and yesterday for exercise on the promenades of Brighton and Worthing too....Shopping of course, and lunch down The Lanes, Churchill Sq shopping precinct, and Western Road too, and a Belgian waffle with Chocolate sauce and coconut shavings from my favourite couples kiosk on Brighton Pier, late lunch in Ask Italian in Worthing yesterday, followed by more shopping, and seeing La La Land later in the day.
Sleeping well, system hopefully near normal now, thanks to Laxido Orange ( boy, that stuff is goooood )
Plan to maybe return to full work in about a week.

My sincere thanks to Sqad and everyone who gave me encouragement, help and advice .....and still do..... I so much appreciate it :-) xx

Forgot to mention cutting Omeprazole dosage down to just 2 x 20mg capsules from 4 a day, from tomorrow, from hospital's discharge instructions.
Seeing my GP or Head Nurse early next week for follow up, which probably will include Blood tests.

Looking good Yogi, keep it up! :-)
Excellent news, time sleep and rest a great healer . :-)

Thanks, Patsy and Anne.......and for being around, and there for me, when I needed advice. :-) xx
One day at a time, Yogi.
Yogi. Post operative constipation is common and distressing, should always be considered if a patient is unwell.
//Post operative constipation is common and distressing, should always be considered if a patient is unwell.// It's one of those things that the patient is allowed to work out.....

All the best, yogi......and take care, if you have been on the slab, they say the effect of the anaesthetic can last for one month per hour under, bad dreams etc.....these things take time.
Feedback appreciated.

You're so right, Tilly.....and my gratitude and thanks to you too. x

Yes, Anne.....I was worried as, like you mentioned, the Lactulose was quite mild and not really working....but boy, when the Nurse visited me at home and prescribed me the Laxido Orange ......that stuff really is good......Stools back to normal colour now and really pleased about that, because still dark up to that point.

It just totally knocks you for six......If my wife or daughter weren't home to call an ambulance when I had initial bleed, could have been in serious trouble.....Credit to the ambulance service as here in about two or three minutes ( we have an ambulance station just around the corner from us ).... apparently they were excellent and got me to hospital double quick.

Taking it easy and not rushing back until I feel fit again.
Were you taken to theatre quickly after admission to A@E?

Thanks for your kind words, DTC.....not something I want repeated, that's for sure.

No problem, Sqad.....Thanks for looking after me, my good man :-)

Hey Anne,

Went into A&E, they were trying to find a good vein in my arms sent BP was dangerously low due to blood loss, they eventually did and took my bloods, get my blood type spot on for transfusion because I needed blood pretty bad.....had transfusion in A&E and time in about 12:15am....stayed A&E all night..In morning first thing around 8:30am....Wheeled to Endoscopy Felt and Dr came to see me to tell me what she was going to do and I remember signing something.....She said she'll treat anything she finds as the procedure goes ahead....then went in shortly after...lots of nurses and the doctor in there......The rest is a blur till recovery, but did feel a little discomfort having tubes in my throat and stomach.

They were very good and I was lucky I think.
