My son is making chilli oil - he has been successful up to now, but he is finding that when the oil has cooled on this occasion it is going cloudy. It is clear when hot-but cloudy when cold. Any one any ideas? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi mid

if it's being stored in quite a cool/cold place it could be causing it to go cloudy, are you sure there were no bugs in the chillies to begin with or that the seeds inside already had mould on them

heres a link that you might find handy

Dry your chillies before adding them to very slightly warmed oil. They can be dried in a very low oven (70C) for 48 hours, or hung in a cool, dry place. Always store the oil in a sterilised bottle and seal it. Leave for one month before using.
