Uncooked Jumbo Prawns

I'm about to have a chinese meal from takeaway but would like to cook my own uncooked prawns for a change.
it says fry for 3 or 5 mins. would they be chewey ?

Cook until they are completely pink. That could take 2, 3, 4 mins. The timing on the packet is a guild line.

Cheers ummmm, never had uncooked prawns before. They were bought by mistake! They will go down well with curry all over prawns and the chowmein. Will watch till they go very pink...ta muchly

Do you know how the Chinese takeaways cook their curries?

They use this, or other brands of the same thing. It does about 20-30 portions depending on how much you eat and takes about 10 minutes!

From frozen or chilled?
They cook extremely quickly once defrosted, more than 4/5 mins and they go small and chewy. In fairness they would be cooked and safe to eat after 3 mins in a hot wok, some people worry about seafood and over cook

jd, theyve been defrosting all day so now their all nice and soft, and just about to take out of fridge. I hope they taste yummy!

I do find that tiger prawns can be a bit tasteless and chewy whether bought cooked, or cooked from raw.

HI, I've just clicked on the link posted by ummmm because I prefer Chinese curry to Indian ones and was a bit bewildered by the pricing. I pack is £1.20, 2 are £18.54 and 5 are £33.40. Can anyone explain this please?

Well, quick update ...meal was delish and with the prawns covered with curry, they were quite tasty, but if the truth was known, I think I prefer already cooked prawns, as I've always have had them in the past.

Still full up from my 6.30.pm. meal, haha.
