On My Fitness Pal.com it says you have to work out your heart rate for fat burning. Does anyone know how you work out your individual FB rate? Are there any good apps for this? Many thanks,
Bramley.

Your Fitness Pal website says..Here are three easy ways to calculate your fat-burning zone:

Figure out your max heart rate (Max Heart Rate = 220 – your age). And then determine your fat-burning range, which is 60% to 70% of your max heart rate.

Use a fitness app, like Wahoo Fitness, MapMyFitness, or RunKeeper, to calculate your 5 heart rate zones.

Do a Field Test or Home Test with the Wahoo Fitness app, which will identify your Burn and Burst Zones.
I suspect you will need to wear something into monitor your pulse. A wrist band or some other alternative. IIRC I bought something of the sort many moons ago prior to apps & smart phones, just prior to giving up exercise.

I'd suggest not relying on exercise to get rid of fat. I'm sure it helps a bit, raising the metabolic rate, and is good healthwise; but one needs a lot of fat burning exercise to burn of a small intake.

Thank you. Jomlett, I know but the only thing that will seem to work it out for you is the Wahoo thing and it costs £49! That's a lot for so little!
dont get too wrapped up in all this mumbo jumbo about fat burning zones etc, stick to basics, excercise 3-4 times a week doing cardio and weights if your a bloke but more cardio for a girl. diet - more protein ,less carbs, no eating at night.

really really simple plan but very very hard to stick to !!
