I agree with diddlydo, I was given a soup maker as a gift last year, its not as good as a saucepan and a liquidiser! primarily because its fussy to clean and takes up a lot of room.
I've got one next to the breadmaker and food processor behind the juicer and the thing that makes vegetables into long spiral strips - I haven't really but I think you get my drift
I can only repeat other postings. My soupmaker, also, is a saucepan and a blender/liquidiser. Don't waste your money on fancy gadgets. They don't do the job any better. Enjoy your soup ! It's getting in to Soup weather. I made a big pot of mushroom yesterday and the freezer is now full of it.
I sometimes use my slow cooker for making soup. The other day did parsnips, apple and onion with stock - hey presto 6 hours later I had soup (and I used hand blender). Always have a hand blender. Before I did I tipped hot soup into a blender and badly burnt my hand!
chickadee, there are several questions in the related threads at the bottom of the page.
I would say it is in overwhelming support of the saucepan and hand blender approach. Pieces of kit that you are almost certainly half way there with if not fully kitted out already!
