You can, but they make you phart.
The uncooked starch is difficult to digest and so it ferments in the gut and produces gas.
I do like a little nibble occasionally.....
The slugs ate lots of mine. I must have a garden full of farting slugs. Nice:-(
i hope ' nibble '' doesn't mind !!!!!!
Risk or no risk, I love eating raw potatoes!

When I was a kid my mother knew that she had to cut three times the number of chips that she needed to put into the chip pan, because I'd have eaten two thirds of what she'd cut before they got anywhere near it.

Try putting thinly shaved slices of raw potato into a salad. It's lovely!
I like raw potato too....
fancy way things are cooked more raw then doed
I've always eaten raw potatoes, and still do occasionally. It seems that the danger is in eating raw, green bits on the potatoes.
In my youth I'd go for sliced raw potatoes, sprinkled with sugar, as the filling in a sandwich. Many of my pals did this too.
Yuck !
I've always eaten raw potatoes and the comment about mum cutting more chips than necessary took me back. I still have to eat a piece of raw potato if there's any around 50 years later. Not noticed being any windier than usual either.
Cheaper than apples. Just as much vitamin C. As children my sister and I used to love 'stump' which was the hard, crunchy bit of a cabbage stalk. A bit like coleslaw but without any fancy stuff like mayo. Also the bottom bit of a head of celery. I suspect it was all good for teeth as well...! And no, we never noticed any windy after effects either.
Because, like most raw food, its unpleasant.
