Yes, of course. There was a time that there were no fridges you know. Food doesn't't go off overnight.

Many thanks. I did think that myself but with all this talk these days about food poisoning I just wanted another opinion. Many thanks
Yes, of course it will be - if you're not going to eat it today, freeze the rest.
Sure it will be fine lilac, especially being ham. My question is what do others do with their huge turkeys after Christmas dinner, they are far too big to fit in ordinary size fridges. I am lucky as we have a caravan in the drive and it is perfectly cold in there, so is always stored in there for a few days until I carve the rest of the meat off it.
We don't have a huge turkey, just a crown these days - but when we did, we'd joint in and stick what we didn't want straight in the freezer, to get out later to make curry or soup.
Curing bacon/gammon was designed in olden times to preserve the meat. That said, the cooking process does remove a large proportion of the salt. If it had been fish or chicken (or rice) it might have been dodgy. But my aunt keeps her Christmas turkey in her gas oven (which obviously has a pilot light) for up to a week to no ill (no pun intended) effect.
