Lol, "This jam is going to give a shine to my balls and have a look as i jiggle them about"

I kid you not he really said that!
Celeriac is a brilliant veg - roasted, mashed, combined with other veg, gratin etc etc - the possibilities are endless. And that's before you even start on the raw salad versions.

Celeriac tastes like celery, just milder. It's horrible.

These meals can be done in 15 minutes as long as you've done all the prep first.
Celeriac's lovely combined with mash.
*shudder*

Are they difficult to chop or peel? I nearly chopped my hand enough trying to cut open a squash around a year ago and since then have only got the already cubed version as it left me with a bit of a phobia when it comes to cutting hard veg like turnips and squashes.
Bit like a swede.
while we are on there - I have never tried asparagus - is it nice - if I ever get a bunch I know you break the "stick" bit of - after that how do you cook them
Question Author
I've eaten swede but never chopped one. Are they easier or the same to chop as a turnip or squash?

I'm not sure connemmara as i've never tasted them but always assumed asparagus tasted like long green string beans?
Celeriac soup is yummy and very simple to make. Also like it mashed with spuds.
Just steam them for about 5 mins. I love asparagus. We have them with tonight's dinners. Also nice with a knob of butter.
Question Author
So you can use it as a potato? Can you make chips or wedges with it?
Similar to squash.

Asparagus tastes nothing like green beans.
ummmm on what kind of flavour would you base asparagus on ie cabbage etc - am not too fond of my green veggies. but they seem to appeal to me
Question Author
Well it looks like this summer will be with me exploring the once hated but now the quinessential world of fruit veg and salads
ummmm our posts crossed - have never had squash - is it butternut squash - and for sweet potato no never tried any of them.
We've tried a few of his 15-minute recipes, and they've all been delicious. But ready in 15 minutes? Not a hope in hell
