Having some girls over for dinner next week and can't decide on a dessert. The options are a chocolate fountain with fruit, marshmallows, biscuits etc to dip or something more like tiramisu and mini banoffee pies. What do you think?

I'd go for anything but the chocolate fountain - moving chocolate makes me feel sick - odd I know but I can' t look at it
CFs are SO messy to clean!
Have you looked at the amount of oil you need to mix with the chocolate to make it flow? Had you thought about doing chocolate fondant instead? you can do that with a very loose ganache.
the oil is a real put off about the fountain, lots of little cakes and treats sounds a tastier idea
Not just the oil - unless everyone is exceptionally scrupulous abou using a fresh skewer for each piece of fruit/marshmallow the fountain becomes a bacterial soup after a short while ... yuk
I'd go for tiramisu or something. CHocolate fountain is so messy and a total pain the backside to clean.

It's decided then. Tiramisu and a selection of little tarts. Thanks for your help. No wonder the contraption has only been out the box once.
if you are looking for girly fun, how about decorate it yourself mini cupcakes?
I love a chocolate fountain and they've got one in my favourite restaurant, Cosmo. But I think as you're going to have it at home, go for the tiramisu and tarts.
What about choc fondue?
