My sister is a bit down in the dumps at the moment (although she never moans). She's got an array of health problems, none overly serious but with them all at once she feels crap, her kids are being little buggers and she continues to do so much to make sure everyone else is happy so I think she deserves a treat.

Thing is I have no idea what. I can't get her any nice food/choccies cos she's on a diet, can't get her wine because of the tabs she's on and the diet, can't get her nice smellies because she has really sensitive skin, flowers are boring and she got some for mothers day. I can't really offer to have the kids for a night because they always have things going on between them and I don't have the space. I can't afford to spend much and just want to get a small gesture yo cheer her up a bit so can anyone suggest anything?

Offer to babysit and pay for their film night.
what about babysitting for an afternoon and letting her go to the hairdressers, library, spa or whatever!

I don't really want to go down the route of having the kids, if she needs a break they go to their dads (plus they drive me a bit potty). I'd rather give her something she can enjoy for herself.
babysit...and let her go window shopping...chuck in a tenner for a cuppa T !
A good book or video
Could make a wee scrapbook of pics from when you guys were small!? Or go round and have a pj session with a healthyish takeaway lol!!

A massage that caters for sensitive skin? Sometime therapist might go to her home if there was a few of you for a bit cheaper xx

I should add all kids drive me potty, not just hers. Also, I don't really want to treat them. Just her. They don't deserve it at the moment.
cook her her favourite meal, grab a video, and send the wee ones up stairs...girls night in!
Do one of those books of promises - like a free 1 hour ironing session, 1 hour free cleaning, etc.

Now actually, you might be onto something. I have a key to her house and I know she will be out all day on Saturday. I could go round and do all her ironing (eeugghh) or something like that.
I will give you a key to my house Evianbaby and you can come and do my ironing if you'd like.
A basket of some treats like a bar of her favourite chocolate or her favourite sweets (even more retro stuff she had when she was little), a sensitive skin face mask, some IOUs from you like for a manicure etc...

You can get some cheap spa packages where you just go in to use the facilities and relax without treatments - often some on lastminute.com etc... I got one for Christmas and it was such a thoughtful gift and so needed after a lot of crap lately - have saved it up for when recovered from my op :)
I always make up a "night in box" for people
Eg
New jim jams
Choco
Wine
Facemask
Bath stuff
Mabye you could see whats available for her skintype and not too much choccy hehe and even alcohol free fizz!!! BUT i must admit as much as i hate ironing myself....it would b nice of u to do that! Stick a few nice candles on and mabye have her dinner in xxx

No chance traci, I rarely do my own.

I'd love to treat her to a treatment but she's extremely self concious and she won't have anything done. Not even her nails. She even hates going to the hairdressers. When she's won vouchers for things before she gives them away so I don't think I could tempt her.

She's going with a few of my nieces to see JLS on Saturday so she'll be back late but I could set her up a little chill out basket for when she gets in. Maybe I could reconsider on the bottle of wine.
I vote new jammies hehehe i think we always think we hve to get something a bit fancier...but really, i love asda pyjammas and if someone got me asda jammies and a 4pk of dairy milk or somethinh id be dead chuffed! And a wee candle x

Good idea. Ill see what her ironing pile looks like, then get her a little bit of choc, her Fave wine and some nice candles. She loves candles. Would like to get her jammies but I will have to skip them this time. Shell like the other stuff though and as she's a big grown up now she can decide whether it's a good idea to indulge or not :)
Sounds good- i LOVE getting candles i really do xx
