I only use around three slices of a whole lemon when I make up my G & T's in the evening, so can anyone suggest the best way to store the lemon until the following evening? I'd hate it to dry up!

Thank you

Wrap it in cling film and put it in a sealable plastic container, in the fridge.
I just pop mine into a plastic food bag and tie tightly - keep mine in the fridge.
Cut side down on saucer or cover with cling film.
I put it cut side down on a flat plate, and put it in the fridge.
I used to slice them up and freeze the slices, then the next time I wanted lemon for my G&T I took a slice or three from the freezer - Ice and a slice without having to make ice cubes!
Wrap it loosely in silver foil & put it in the salad drawer in the fridge
What a good idea nun. I will remember that. Thanks.
Wrap in clingfilm. Put in refrigerator, (fridge is so ugly).
nun, What a brilliant idea. Tah!

I freeze mine ready sliced in zip-lock bags.
Then you don't need ice next time. :-))
Having worked in plenty of bars, I can tell you that the usual way to store lemon slices is in soda water. (But I've no idea why the bubbles in it are meant to make it last longer than ordinary water!). Most bars throw out unused lemon slices at the end of the day but those that keep them often put them in a fridge, still in the (by now flat) soda water.

So simply putting the cut lemons into water, and then in your fridge, will probably do the trick. Alternatively, simply drink more G&Ts, then you won't be left with part-used lemons ;-)
why don't you like "fridge", daisynonna? It's only an abbreviation, like bus, or phone.
Jemisa:
Wrapping a cut lemon in aluminium foil will, through the resultant chemical reaction, result in a thin layer of aluminium acetate on the cut surface of the lemon. It's not particularly harmful but it could impair the taste.

Thank you all very much for your rapid replies; I'm very grateful - I'll try out all your suggestions including Chris's idea of drinking more G & T's!
Daisynonna, do you always say "perambulator"? Just curious.
Can you not use Jif or similar?
Why not put the gin in a jamjar and store the lemon submerged in gin?
I just carry on drinking until I've used up the entire lemon............
. . . and here's Craft1948's typical lemon:
