I used to work for Mitchells & Butlers in Birmingham in the 70s and 80s - give me a minute.....
sorry, I'm a bit stumped. I have gone through all the pubs that used to be M&B, but none that I recall at that address - the Temple bar was in Temple Row. The Beer Orders came in as I was leaving M&B (1988) so it may have belonged to another brewery (or may do now). Why don't you go in there and ask them?

The Birmingham-ish based people on here may know..
Have no idea, but googled it. It came up with Sputnik Bar. Could that be it????
I don't think so, winner - there are loads of pubs and bars in that area, and the listing I saw for Sputnik says it's closed.
ok. I really don't know, this is what came up on google.

sputnik is now closed, has been for years! was excellent though. is now bar red. apparently an upmarket jazz joint but i've never been in!

Another review:
"There has been a bar on this site for as long as I can remember (without giving my age away we are talking decades). The last success was Sputnik, a scruffy music bar co run by ex members of local band Pop Will Eat Itself. In the nineties, if you used to drink at the Pot of Beer, you would automatically graduate to Sputnik where you could find indie music and jazzfunk nights.''
