Frankly no, not when basic pizzas are 50p from Tesco, just add your own toppings to them.

B00...I have the luxury of time!!

Plus....the boys leave me alone when I'm 'doing stuff' in the kitchen :-)
But they would be nothing like Tesco basic pizza. I would say give it a go if you don't think it's worth it then don't bother again. You can freeze pizza dough so you can always make up lots, divide it up the size you want, put it in bags and freeze.
I like homemade as I know exactly what is in them. I use half wholemeal flour so they work out healthier....and organic and less salt. You can also then have them as thin or thick as you like.

Hi Ummmm - I have the proportions etc in a book which I'll need to find and the house is upside down just now. Essentially though whatever the amnount of flour is (strong bread flour) I use half white and half wholemeal - I like Dove's organic flour. Then it is dried yeast, warm water, salt and vegetable or olive oil (I like olive oil - virgin is okay - extra virgin is quite strong). You knead it for a ggod few minutes and then cover and place somewhere warm for about and hour and then knead lightly, divide and roll.

You can probably get the proprtions of the web somewhere if you need them before I find the book :o)
Chapatis are much the same -you can get chapati flour but I just use a light wholemeal and mix with a little salt, vegetable oil and water - no yeast. Divide into small balls and roll out - then I dry fry mine for a couple of minutes.
My husband makes pizza bases sometimes -well, it wouldn't be me, would it? - - and they're much better than shop bought ones. Couldn't tell you how he does it though - obviously. :o)

Well perhaps a bit, I'm also quite lazy, so I personally fail to see the need for standing in your kitchen faffing for ages to achieve something that can be bought for 50p :P
B00, don't stand in the kitchen faffing for ages. Get your husband to do it. Easy. ;o)
I always make my own and I do what rattyratgirl says and freeze the dough. It's not a hassle to make at all and tastes so much better. We also have a pizza stone to cook them on which makes them even yummier! lol :)
home made much nicer also try a sweet one bit mad but interesting add a little sugar and cinnamon to the dough top with crushed berries, slices of apple or pear (fudge chunks or choc chips if you really must) and sprinkle with caster sugar bake until the sugar caramelises serve with cream cheese pref marscapone

Another thing to do with pizza dough which is highly calorific is fry small discs of the dough until crispy and sprinkle with salt or sugar. A very yummy unhealthy snack!
an alternative dough for pizzas.......very thinly rolled out plain scone dough.....works for me if I aint in the mood for faffing.
