I think I've seen them both in the chillers and in the freezers.

I guess they might make it over to the States in the hold OK butt is it OK to take them in ? US customs are pretty strict about foodstuffs.
Personally I'd buy it there.

Why no just make your own. Or am I missing something?
I don't think it would be allowed on the plane. But if it were to be, it would be a bit worse for wear after the varying temperatures of travel. It should indeed be kept refridgerated.

at least where i am here in new york state, we do not have the 500g blocks or puff pastry or short crust pastry and as a cook, the idea behind it intrigues me alot....in the stores around here all i ever see is sheets of puff pastry in a box ready to use....i am not sure that the idea of the block of pastry ever caught on over here....like double cream never caught on over here
Double cream? All those calories? Didn't catch on in the States? Wow! LOL
When we went to the States in March there were dogs in the baggage reclaim sniffing for food items, one woman had biscuit crumbs in her pocket and the dog wouldn't leave her alone. I doubt very much you'd be able to take it in.
the ready rolled sheets just save even more work...
The sheets are the same thing as the blocks but ready to use. You have to roll it to the same thickness as the sheet anyway. I work in a Pro kitchen and we buy large sheets about a meter sq from commercial suppliers. Same thing just bigger saves a lot of time.
Well, if you really want to try it, it`s do-able. Don`t put it in your suitcase though - it will look remarkably like Semtex on the x-ray. You could get away with it in hand baggage. Ask the crew to give you a bag of ice to put it with. Customs will probably be OK. Just make sure you declare it though. They go balistic if they find it and you haven`t. And you know how charming, non-aggressive and just plain intelligent JFK customs and security are....
