Hi Dee - not sure where that one was in TOWIE last night, but a lot of that show is shot in Loughton, so it could be there. I know there definately is'nt one in Brentwood - they are far too posh to have a Pie & Mash shop, hahaha

There is a good one in Romford - in the old arcade leading to the market, it is on the site of the curtain shop that used to be there. There is also a good one in Barking.

I used to love Cooks in East Ham High Street and down Walthamstow Market.
I remember the barking one and there was one on Chapel street in ilford too but not been back for ages so it might have closed
robins possibly. i remember going to one near the denamrk arms in east ham on the barking road, but that shut years ago. like most people from east ham, they branched out into essex... and spain.

sorry its the Barking one I am talking about, its closed the owner said he would reopen if he was certain he would get more trade, several people inc moi wrote to the local rag with support but it hasnt reopened and that was about six months ago.
In last nights Towie there was Joey Essex and that grotesque female cousin with the rubber lips and fake boobs at a very posh pie and mash shop which looked worth a visit.
When I lived in Dubai [ for 14 years] I used to dream about pie & mash and once brought some back to Dubai frozen but it did not taste the same.
i find that the few remaining pie and mash shops are so unlike the ones we went to as kids, the pies are half the size, and the liquer, funny i could spell that once, runny and tasteless. Went to one in Islington a while ago and it was expensive and really disappointing.

thats why em10 I was trying to find out where the one was in TOWIE, if it actually exists its the poshest up market pie shop I have ever seen.
Maybe pies tasted better years ago because we were kids and hungry. My parents were not Londoners and being a London born kid it was like living with two aliens, they branded pie shops as common and I was forbidden to go there but of course I did because all my pals went.
for the record it was tony’s pie and mash shop in waltham abbey that was on towie.

we went because it was a hearty meal and cheap, glad at least you know which one it was.

many thanx Ankou, my grandson lives down there so I will definately go there next time I visit him.
I'm dripping with saliva now --pie and mash, lovely grub.

Towie, the one in Romford near where woolworths was, was my favourite haunt and went there often. Another good one is at the merry Fiddlers in dagenham --scrumptious
A lot of that show is shot in Loughton is it? Sooooooooooo glad I moved out of Loughton then.

But in answer to the question, there is one in Loughton, in the Broadway, but that's on the common part of the town. There is also one in Waltham Abbey, not far away, which has quite a name amongst celebrities, such as the beckhams.
