Cooking beef brisket in slow cooker

I want to cook a joint of beef brisket in the slow cooker for Sunday dinner but I need advice - what should I chuck in with it? And How much liquid?
Any tried and tested methods appreciated

I normall brown off the meat in a frying pan first then put it in the slow cooker and cover with red wine and beef stock. I also add a roughly chopped onion and some herbs. It's delicious and very tender

Start off with hot liquid and browned meat and low for 8 hours will work fine.

Thank you. Never done a joint of meat in it before, been very successful with curries, stews etc so thought id give it a go!

I usually put the brisket on a bed of carrots ,celery and shallots .No liquid .I'm not fond of anything cooked with alcohol .But you can slosh a bit of wine in if you like it .I never brown it first either :)
The veg will make the liquid and you get lots of gravy from the meat anyway .
Depending on the size of the joint ,I usually get one that fits a large oval slow cooker it takes about 8hours on low ,six hours on medium .
Very tasty and melt in the mouth meat .
I agree with shaney on veg and amount of liquid - just a splash for me. But I do like to brown the meat.

Not so much a recipe for my curry but a thrown in amount of onions, tomatoes, spices, beef or chicken - and see how it goes! I usually put in garlic, Ginger, turmeric, garam masala, cumin, ground coriander.
I agree about the veg,and less liquid. It will make a lot as it cooks. You could put onions or leeks,carrots, and big field mushrooms under the meat along with a stock cube. When the meat is done,blitz the veg with a hand blender. It makes the best gravy...and all natural.
ii have cooked brisket in beer (ale) brown it in a pan add what ever veg you prefer but include onions.

I cooked the beef yesterday, beef stock and some veg on the bottom, cooked for about 8 hours and it was gorgeous! Very successful. Thank you all
