I have a stir fry recipe and the sauce, amongst other things, calls for 200ml chicken stock concentrate - do we think this is just 200ml of a normal oxo cube/water mixture or is 'stock concentrate' something different? I've never come across this term before and always use oxo cubes and water when normal stock is listed in a recipe.

Any opinions most appreciated, preferably before tomorrow when I am intending to cook the stir fry!

Thanks.

I saw something a bit like that in Tesco but given that it's a 200g jar I can't believe I'm meant to use the whole lot in one sauce surely? For two people the recipe says:
1 tablespoon runny honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
200ml chicken stock concentrate

This is to go over two chicken breasts stir fried with a red pepper and some spring onions. A whole jar of what you posted would surely kill people?!

By the way its a Nadia Sawalha recipe so it's definitely not some USA ingredient!
marco pierre white has his name on a stock concentrate which my husband a chef for many years is happy to use - he would use it stirred into a dish and make up the liquid with boiling water - you can get them in Tesco
I'm no cook, but I'd guess that you could use 200ml of liquid with a chicken stock cube in it.
You can buy Knorr chicken stock concentrate in the supermarket. It's like a little tub of chicken flavour jelly lol

Well I used 200ml of chicken oxo and the sauce was fine. The chicken, however, was another matter. The recipe said to cube two chicken breasts, toss them in cornflour then fry them in 1 tablespoon vegetable oil until 'a light golden batter forms'. Well what actually formed was a very gluey slab across the bottom of my wok and some very naked and undercooked chicken sat on top of it. No idea what went wrong :(
