My Mother-in-Law laughs at me for washing soft fruits saying it's not necessary. Apart from general hygiene considerations, I would worry about sprays that may have been used as they were growing, Who's right? Ladybyrne

I saw a programme once where they showed you workers spitting on sterawberries, if you tell her that she may not think what you are doing is unnecessary, think about what they may not have shown them doing!!
Mothers-in-law don't always know best Ladybyrne...carry on washing your fruit lass.

Thanks to you all. I'll carry on washing and just laugh back!!!
Eveything I eat gets washed or cooked and usually both. If more people did this and washed their hands more often there'd be a lot less tummy bugs. I do have a tendency of picking raspberries after a shower of rain so the job is done for me and they don't end up a mush.
