I've googled this but so many confusing articles!!! Can anyone tell me the BASICS of what a type 1 diabetic meal plan should include? We are having someone to stay for a while and I'd like to plan the family meals in advance.

anything that does not have lots of sugar therein...this does include soft fruits like grapes, plums etc.. other than that just normal without the goodies...
Yes they are very confusing........if he had Type 1 diabetes, then he is in a set dietary regime.......why not give him/her a ring and ask advice for their particular regime?
little and often usually
as a diabetic of 35 years i eat the same as everyone else, just have to mind the carbs and sugar, don't do what my sister once did, and produce a meal of salad, meat and cheese with no carbs at all, i would have passed out hypo with that, just cook as for anyone else and let him enjoy the day, he will know what to limit, going over the top just once in a while wont hurt anyway, and it's not nice thinking that you have to be made a secial case of is it, makes me feel very awkward. ,

Thanks everyone for your advice and tips!
Same meals as for everyone else just be careful not to do a too sugary dessert, Mr M eats the same as the rest of us and knows his limits. One suggestion I will make is...be sure to have some 'full fat' drinks and a couple of Mars bars just in case he has a hypo.
