Hot dogs with loads of fried onions........yum
Sausage, tomato and potato pie - still bangers and mash but very tasty. From Jane Clarke
300g potatoes, peeled and steamed/boiled-can be normal or its also delicious with sweet potatoes too.
150g cauliflower, cut into bite sized pieces and steamed or boiled.
6 tblsp natural full cream yoghurt
100g mature cheese, such as a strong cheddar
2 tsp Dijon mustard
freshly ground black pepper
450g good quality sausages,
2 onions, thinly sliced
1 medium leek, washed carefully and thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tbspn olive oil
1 large can 400g, chopped tomatoes
2 tbspn tomato puree
1 tbspn freshly torn basil
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Method
Mash the potatoes and cauliflower together with the yoghurt, mature cheese, mustard and freshly ground black pepper-season to taste - but you shouldnt need any salt, as the pepper and mustard give it great flavours.
Grill the sausages until golden brown-drain and dab with kitchen roll to remove excess fat. Slice and set aside.
Gently fry the onions, garlic and leek in the olive oil until they turn golden brown and soft. Add the tomatoes, tomato puree and fresh basil and bring to a boil and then simmer for ten minutes.
In a large ovenproof dish, arrange layers of the sausage, tomato and potato mixtures, finishing up with potato on the top. Top with Parmesan cheese-about 25g. Set aside until you are ready to cook it (it can be stored in the fridge for 24 hours)
Pre heat the oven to 190C and then cook the pie for about 30 minutes, until cooked right through to piping hot, and crunchy on the top.

This is the recipe but we like more potato with ours

Sausage Casserole with a difference
In an ovenproof dish layer:
Sliced apple
Sliced tomato
Skinned sausages
thinly Sliced potato
Season with pepper (and salt if you normally salt your food)
Put a lid on dish
Bake at Gas4 for about 2 hours
It doesn't sound exciting I know, but it really is lovely; all the juices meld well together.
Serve with vegetables of choice.
Hope you like it.
noknowledge - you probably live on food that your name suggests.
To others - I made this today - this is why I answered the question. It was very good and we have some left over for tomorrow - had carrots and brocolli today - tomorrow whatever veg to hand - would not freeze it as I don't like reheated frozen spuds.
Do them in the frying pan instead of the grill, add some chopped red onion and some apples halfway through and cook gently

Or instead of the apples, do some gravy instead in amongst it
My favourite dish is sausages and mash with onion gravy - mmmm!
But if I'm feeling experimental, I make a kind of bean stew thing, and put the sausages on top at the end. Equally good.
Bean stew = soak dry haricots and/or butter beans overnight. Fry up some onions, sling in soaked beans with a small piece of really cheap bit of meat (pork is fine, but can also use lamb or beef, shin or hock, or even pigs trotter). Water to cover, 4 or 5 bay leaves and bung in oven for long slow cook. About 3-4 hours or in slow cooker pot about 6 hours. I've done this in morning before work and then come back in evening and hey presto, dins ready.
Grill or fry sausages and there you go. Very cheap dish and makes loads of portions.
A particular fave of mine, so quick & easy
