i think you need to be more specific, what kind of sauce, some may lend themselves to oil, but others you may have to scrap alltogether
I use olive oil quite successfully as a butter substitute in roux style sauces.
If you are making a basic white sauce, or cheese sauce, use I can't believe it's not butter and it will be fine. I wouldn't use the oil.
For future use try some Flora Cuisine. Specially to replace butter in cookin. Keeps for months in the fridge. Good for frying.

Do you have any margarine ,that will be okay I use It all the time when making sauces.
