Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all well.

My friends are trying to arrange a 'Baby Shower' for me and want me to write a brief list of ideas on what they can get me/the baby.

I dont expect them to buy anything to pricey or big - mainly things that will come in handy once our little girl arrives!

So far redcrx has given me a good few things to add to the list - so this is what i have so far....

* Baby bouncer or rocker

*Steriliser

*Baby monitor

*Bottles

*Clothes

Any more ideas you can help me with???

Any of you had a Baby SHower yourself? Did u have a theme and turn it into a little party??? My friends want to do an 80s cocktail style theme!?! (non alcoholic cocktails btw!lol) - is this normal or are they just insane??

Hiya nat, how's the baby bump? Hope you are both well :-)

I've found this, a newborn checklist, maybe you can pick items off there for your friends to get you?

As for the themed idea, why not? Sounds ace, go for it, won't get to go to many once mini nat is here so you might as well have the full monty!

Enjoy it

i meant to add to my list. Some women go for muslin squares to protect clothes from baby sick when winding baby. they can be very expensive so what i did was buy lots of cheap flannels, they soak up more and if youve got loads you havnt got to be constantly washing.
Of course, you can ask for muslins if your friends are paying :)

hey, a party is a party, just have one that youll enjoy.

"Muslin Sqaures" - never bloody heard of 'em!

Just looked on the net..they just like cloths?

WHat are they used for exactly??
they are very expensive cloths which is why i used flannels.

You use them to put over your shoulder when winding baby as they often puke a bit, or put under their chin when feeding or winding on your lap.

flannels are better when its lots of puke as they hold more than a flimsy bit of cotton.
I had those muslin squares too, got em from Mothercare, can't remember 'em being too expensive? Anyway, I used 'em for almost everything, especially good for putting over your shoulders for winding baby, saves having to wash baby sick off your clothes!
23 for 20 or 18 for 12 (coloured) from mothercare seems a lot to me

i paid about 5 for 15 flannels from our local designer outlet and they did fine

i suppose its personal choice really.

oh and dont buy too many baby toiletries nat as they take forever to get through.

right so i'll look into these cloths and if not i'll vouch for flannels.... not really over keen on the thought of baby vomitting down my clothes....
lol, she will manage to get you somehow Nat. At least being a little girl shes unlikely to pee in your eye.
Question Author
pee in my eye.....crikey - doesnt sound too pleasant....
Nat, you have a lot to learn if you think thats the only unpleasant thing about a baby, bless ya xx
My eldest as a baby threw up on my face.........I cannot begin to describe how vile that was!
My eldest managed to projectile poo all over the wall. I was dumb struck!!!!
I used terrie nappies and they came in for everything but as red says any nice soft cloth in large quantities will do. I personally did not get on with the muslin squares fount them a bit wappy. My sister got some lovely coloured terry nappies of ebay for mopping cloths (i refused to give her mine as am saving for potty training days and spilled juice.)

No body bought my mate basic stuff like moisturising cream, baby bath, cotton wool balls, baby soap, nail clippers, hair brush etc so when I asked what she wanted after baby was born she told me and was well chuffed when i returned from tesco with lots of goodies.
Dont forget a massage voucher from a local sallon (for you not baby)
Question Author
lmao - and there i was thinking it was just a cuddle and kiss they needed every now and then ;o) lol

urinating in the eyes, vomitting in the face, projectile poo!!!!

I certainly didnt read this in any booklet given to me by my doctor!!
word of advice, leave your fella to do the first few nappies if you can. That stuffs like tar!
Question Author
eeeeeeeeeewwwww!!!! Tar!!!!!!! Stink bomb tar at that!!!

I will play patient for the first week or so....only open to playing, pulling silly faces and cuddles (oh and feeding of course).
Just let us know when youre ready to hear the birth stories :)
Question Author
:o( never
lol. xx
Advise daddy NOT to play areoplanes with bubba after a feed..especially not if he decides to open his mouth at just the wrong moment.

You would have thought Mr P would have learned his lesson after the first kid. But oh no!

Muslin squares are brilliant. I didn't have a tumble dryer and they always came out soft after drying on the airer. I used them for mopping up, protecting clothes and for putting on the sheet to save washing the sheets of the pram all the time. They lasted years, too :o)
