charging for tap water.

am i right in thinking that you can't be charged for tap water in a pub.you only pay for the cordial if its a mix of cordial and water.but a glass of tap water should be free

No, you're using their premises, their glass, their staff etc.

Most pubs do give it for free though.
I think they can charge you for the use of the glass.
Some places actually charge you just to get in the door!
I think it is at the host's discretion , after all, they will have paid for the water.and you are using one of their glasses.
Have to be a very popular pub though wouldn't it, ummmm ?
I was thinking more about clubs.
