Calories in a bottle of wine

I just googled this and some people are saying there are as much as 1000 cals in a bottle of wine could this be true?I always thought more like 500-600 max Im generally talking about 12.5% but if you drank a bottle of red of 14% could it be that much higher?

sounds a lot. I have just looked at a 75cl bottle of 12% Valpolicella which claims 510.
There is a link on that page to narrow down the type and strength of wine too, very variable.

excellent table mamyalyne thanks!If anyone knows how to work out the extra calories for the higher percentage wine Im just curious.

I see it there now thanks a 14% bottle of red is 585 so not that much more.
When I'm trying to work out what I've had I tend to assume about 520 per 750 ml bottle of red. If you are drinking a bottle to yourself over an evening (and swilling it down with shorts/beers maybe) you can see how it piles the weight on. But the occassional 250 ml or 175 ml glass isn't such a blow.
I think you could have two cheeseburgers to a bottle of wine

I guess if you could find a 750 ml bottle of "dessert wine" then you might top 1100 calories.
