Its been really interesting the past 2 weeks to see how it was in the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s, the war days, watching family's on holiday with the father wearing a shirt and tie on the beach.

It also showed the street party's on the Queens Coronation with everybody dancing etc.
I remember getting a glass half pint beer mug with a handle at school with the coat of arms on, (wish I had kept it) :-(

I was born a few weeks after the Coronation so missed the commemorative gifts.

Apart from the Coronation on the programme mamy which I don't remember much about (was about 5/6), they showed the teddy boys era and dress styles and music.
I remember my brother coming home from a Bill Hailey Concert in a cinema in Manchester and told me that everybody was dancing in the isles and ripping up the seats!!!!

Last night they showed the birth of the high rise council flats, or shoe boxes in the sky and how they helped to start the beginning of gang culture but, not as bad as it is now!
I was only interested in the chocolates the commemorative mug was filled with. Didn't save the mug - would be worth a fortune on eBay now, wouldn't it?
Thanks trt - we missed that one! Will watch from tonight as we love nostalgia programmes! I notice the series finishes on Friday .... hope its repeated. Fridays is all about seaside hols in the 1950s - wonder if we were filmed, in our elasticated cozzies at Mablethorpe!!!
