Ive done the school run this morning (on foot, i dont drive, lol) By the school there is a very busy road and as you can imagine its a nightmare with cars. As my daughter I approached the end of a side road to cross the busy road we were on the corner, id looked, was about to cross, when some guy drove straight in front of us and parked (he appeared out of nowhere!). Another inch forward and my daughter would have been under his wheels, thats how close it was. I simply shook my head in disbelief. At this the guy gets out of his car and started ranting and raving at me and my neighbour who was with us. I simply stated that he should have parked somewhere else and not right on the corner, to which I was told to mind my own business and he can park wherever he likes! My question is, what can be done if anything? Am i within my rights to report him? and to who? Is he allowed to just pull up and park on a corner? Never mind the fact he was obstructing the view of other drivers trying to pull out of the side street aswell! If i report him to the school Im not sure theres much they can do? any advice appreciated! This isnt the first time ive noticed him but my fear is that one day someone is going to get hurt with his erratic driving!

I guess youre right RR, noone cares until someone gets hurt. When I came back out of the school gate he was still driving round and stopped when he saw me, until he realised i was with someone else seemingly, then he sped off. Ive made a note of his number anyway and written down details so if anymore incidents I will be mentioning it to the school and the police

Thank you for taking the time to reply x
Hiya Lou hon x

Thats shocking, scary for you, glad LL is ok. Is the guy one of the parents from the school? if he is you could ask them to have a word
We get this all the time round where we live. Any number of times I've nearly been run over by these people driving their little darlings to school. They seem to think they can drive and park where they like.

Hi cat! and everyone else too!

Ive just been to fetch my daughter from school and the said blokes wife was trying to hunt me down. She said how dare i threaten to report her husband who had done nothing wrong and can park where he likes. She then said, in her words "if had been me driving i would have mown you down" and shes also threatened to wait for us in the morning and run us over! all this in front of her kids and in school grounds! Little Lou is distraught, she thinks this mad woman is going to kill us in the morning. Im very upset because my daughter is upset. shes only 5! Ive phoned the headmaster but hes no available atm.
Never mind the headmaster, that is road rage and is an offence - I would report her to the police.
Go to your local police station asap Lou.Maybe they can arrange to have an officer patrolling near the school at that time to prevent an incident. Is there another way you could walk to the school?
We have exactly the same type of drivers round here taking their little(not so little) overweight darlings to school in their 4x4s and BMWs.

thank you annie. to be honest im on the verge of it. Her kids were cheeky little blighters too who were shouting their mouthes off at me. I did nothing at the time except keep walking and ignore her. im not getting into slanging matches in the playground and not lowering myself to her level. My concerns are that once the police are involved I have to see these people every day and her kids aer a lot older than my daughter and I dont want her life being mad a misery at a school that she enjoys so much. Im too upset to do much atm xx
If your area is anytjing like ours, you may mind that the local police sation is unmanned - you would be better to phone - but please not 999! - the number will be in the phone book.

youre right daffy. I know thats the right thing to do but because of the my above post im wondering how far to take it before it gets out of hand!
The alternative is to leave some nails sitting upright where they park and hope they get a puncture - but I would never advocate revenge ;0)

lol thank you for making me smile in it all annie! m presuming their kids heard me say I was going to report him this morning as my neighbour was getting involved and my words were "leave it, i'll report him if he carries on" hence the mad wife coming after me! im obviously very concerned for my daughters welfare atm!
It sounds like they have already made it 'out of hand'. If you think the couple are all mouth then you could see if they have calmed down tomorrow...somehow I doubt it though, they seem like the sort who like to intimidate by what you have said.
Question Author
I have no doubt in my mind daffy that she will be there. I doubt very much that she will try and run us over but you never know!
I can appreciate your concerns, I would definitely make the school aware so that they can monitor any shenanigans from the oyks.

However, this is bullying and if you don't do anything, you are showing your daughter that it is okay to behave like that to people and get away with it.

She may then not report it if anything happens to her - if youy get what I mean.

He must also be some sad effort of a man if he needs his wife to fight his battles for him!

I would definitely persue this in some form or other - do you have a community police constable that could be present? - I would raise it as a safety issue in that people are parking innapropriately and putting children in danger even if you don't want to specifically point the finger at this individual.
Question Author
yes i totally know what you mean annie, thank you.

I do know of others that have had problems with the parking that goes on around the school (arent all schools having the same problem? lol) but noone seems to take any interest in it. its ridiculous! someones going to get hurt one of these days. Im not sure the community police will do anything but its worth a shot i guess
Otherwise, I would be tempted to follow 3ightballs method of dealing with the situation:

Ok ive phoned the police and theyre sending someon down to see me!
Hi it really annoys me with parking too near my daughters school. I live nearly a 2 mile walk away and do this journey on foot 4 times a day as she is only in nursery at the moment. I see people who live so much closer than me drive their kids and park completely on the path so you have to walk in the middle of the very busy road to get past them. There is plenty of room to park a few minutes walk away round the corner but that would be too much effort for these lazy gits. I hope you get your trouble sorted out
