has anyone any idea where I can look at modern childrens hairstyles? I want to see if there's a style I like that will suit my boys (ready for them going back to school) but other than short back and sides with a few spikes at the front I'm lost for ideas???

Erm, ok. Thanks for the advice.
I have tried to find something like this before with no luck, I resorted to the catalogues - e.g. next etc to look at child models, but it is difficult to know what suits your child and then trying to explain that to the barber!!!! My two went for those styles that have a kind of messy mohican effect down the middle before the summer holidays, but have now decided that they want to let their hair grow. Which is good becasue they were costing me a fortune in styling wax.
how old r your boys ? my granson is only 6 and he says what he likes .. that is short bk and sides grade 1 . lol...what you like is not the same as what your boys like... after all its them that go bk to school and take all the mockin ! ...if your boys like short bk and side let them stick to it.. sorry my comment is hard and blunt. but i think u know what i mean ... change the hair loads and they will get loads of stick !
My boys are 7 and 6 - they are only now starting to assert any kind of opinion on what they want to do with their hair and clothes. Mainly though, they are not interested or bothered. I like them to have what the other boys have so that they fit in, but my eldest especially is happy to paddle his own canoe. He doesn't much care what every one else likes, he likes what he likes. My little one, likes to be like everybody else and fit in.

They are both susesptable to gentle persuasion though.....! lol
This is a granny's advice - don't advertise your modernity by making a statement with your children! Keep everything middle of the road so that they're not 'different'. I can't understand why children should be subjected to fashion of any kind - they're children!
All good hairdresser's will have style books on hand, from which your sons can choose what they like, but personally, I think that they should stay middle-of-the-road for now. This keeps the school happy, and saves your children looking out of place in front of their friends.
well said @ tapeface .. u r so so rite kids get called for the smallest thing in and out of school... and hair is rite at the top ... so be careful what style u pick... and short bk and sides r a good style.. some say its out of date ? i say its a hair cut !! not a top or pants lol
I resorted to Boden catalogues and Junior magazine when my eldest has his long hair cut recently School insisted it was to be tied back when he goes back which he hates so we had a find something still long but short enough to not tie up.
We found a few ideas, more of a feel for a look than a copy, and the hairdresser was pretty good at doing what we had in mind.
Just to add he has his hair exactly how he wants it. He loves it longer and his friends wished they were allowed the same freedom to choose. I believe it's their hair to do with what they wish.
they have no right to tell him to cut his hair ? who the hell do these schools think they are to ask a lad to cut his hair if he dyed it red green egc or had it shaved i would understand but to long ? give schools a inch and they take a mile.... school caine will be back you will see !!! and teachers will be like police... mind you they are a joke give you a crime number and bye bye never see them again
