My mum has been lucky enough to receive two winners' cheques from the Daily Express over the past 7-8 weeks (each cheque was for 100).

The only crossword she completes on a regular basis is the Big Monday whereas she finishes the Monday Crusader very rarely.

The only published prize for the Big Monday is 1000 and there is no indication of any runners up prizes. The letter my mum received with the cheque was very vague, it just said well done without saying what crossword she had won or on what date. I rang the contact number and the young lady said much the same thing.

My question is has anybody else won a 100 prize from the Daily Express for either of the above crosswords and if it was a runners up prize does anybody know how many runners up prizes are paid out on the Big Monday aswell as the 1000 first prize.

Thanks

She does finish the Crusader but only rarely. I'm not sure what the first prize is, i shall look in this Monday's Express to check.
I do the Big Monday puzzle in the Daily Express and I am sure there is no mention of any prizes for runners up. They only ever print the name of one winner. Do they list winners and runners up for the Crusader. That might give a clue.

Not impressed by the paper's attitude and wonder if we are all be conned !!

In today's Express there is a list of winners for the Crusader from the previous week and they all won 100 so I guess my mum's name would have appeared there at some stage.

Thanks both for replying.
For the Big Monday Express Prize Winners, there is definitely a bias towards winners in the North of the UK, you look, each week they print the winner, you can bet the winner will be in the North of the UK. Us Southerners don't stand a chance!
good luck to your mum , don't query it ,spend it.
