Thank you Muffet I did get the poem and also found another one that Mum used to recite "The Little boy that Santa Claus Forgot" ahh! Apparently it was a song by Nat King Cole. Mum used to recite them while she plaited our hair. We listened so intently that we didn't cry when she tugged. 4 girls 2 plaits each!

Others included - "What is a mummy daddy?" and "Don't go down in the mine dad" Lovely lovely memories - Thank you again

and just seeing the title the little boy that santa claus forgot reduced me to tears. One of my late dads favourites.
Very pleased that you found the poem as well as the song. I can understand them staying in your memory. As for Nat King Cole and "The Little Boy" song, that was a really sad one.
I said I thought your Mum must have had a very good memory. She must have had a lot of patience too. Plaiting for four of you !!!
