In what respect?
Why?

Appears to be riding on the back of the Black Babysitter Thread.

Lot's of interesting comments as to how some think.

Just picked out one comment that appeared to suggest so.
No, trust or distrust is based on personal knowledge of an individual.

I agree Danny.

Still giggling at the first answer though ;-/
In what way? Men commit the majority of violent crimes.

It depends what you are referring to.
//Just picked out one comment that appeared to suggest so. //

That'll no doubt be one from me then - 'appeared' being the operative word. Read it again and try a little harder.
Naomi wrote 'Men are simply less trusted', 1ozzy, nothing about race.
No. You get some dire men, but you get some dire women also. We're all as bad as each other one and the same.

//Men are simply less trusted. //

One sentence Naomi.

Care to elaborate?

My apologies, I should not have included "of any race".
Please reconsider without the race part.

Thanks Zacs, for pointing that bit out.
People can only comment from their perspective. For me it would depend which male and which female to trust.
1ozzy, my pleasure. Since most child abusers are men, it follows that where children are involved men are, in general, trusted less than women.

At least you've had the sense to back-track on the racism bit. Well done.
Definitely, if you'd been out with your young daughter and she needed to use the toilet, you wouldn't ask such a question.

Thank you Naomi, I'll happily admit an error.
As to basing a statement on gender I would shy away.
There are plenty of evil females, baby killers, abductors, etc.

Not sure where female child toileting comes into it Spicerack.
I supervised all my children, male or female, in public and trusted no one I didn't know regardless of gender.
Never made a decision based on gender.
//There are plenty of evil females, baby killers, abductors, etc.//

There are indeed - but more men by far.
I wouldn't deliberately trust any stranger completely, but I remember my mum telling us when we were little, that if we got lost, to go to a woman- pref one with children, rather than a man. I said the same to mine. It probably is sexist- but so is real life.
Question Author
Gender equality?
Will it ever exist, ladies in the boardroom, gentlemen trusted with children?

Works both ways.
Perhaps when the statistics change, ozzy. Until then, it is fairly valid.
