When talking to friends about my younger daughter’s partner it would be lovely to call him my son In law, but they aren’t married. Have you any better suggestions than “my daughter’s partner, father of my grandchildren”?

We use "daughter's partner". "Father of my grandchildren" feels rather a mouthful and tends to imply he's not living with her anymore.

ask them what they would like you to call him
I honestly haven't! What's wrong with "my daughter’s partner, father of my grandchildren”? Are you ashamed that she's had unmarried sex?
My sons ex girlfriend is still part of our family as she is the mother of my two oldest grandchildren so I call her my daughter outlaw.
Flying.....I just say my son-in-law.....makes no difference really that they aren't married and never will be....he's in the same position as if they were.......x

I am that partner and I conside myself as an in-law. My in-laws consider me that way too.
I'd say son in law...
I always said Son In Law before either of my Daughters married their partners.
We have the same situation. But we just use his christian name Luke.
Everyone in the family circle knows who 'Luke' is.
Me and my missus have been together for nearly 28 years and we're not marred. Her mother refers to me as her son in law, which suits me and her fine.
If you're not comfortable referring to him as your son in law - how about future son in law??
My partner is called my parent's son in law and we're not married, nor do we have intentions of being. Call him whatever makes you all feel happy :)
I'd just use their name. Folk can ask if they want to clarify where he fits in.
//// Me and my missus have been together for nearly 28 years and we're not marred. ////

.... hmm not sure if that typo was accidental or deliberate lol - obviously meant to say married, not marred :)
Oh, Giz....that's typo of the week for me...love it!!!!..... :-))
before my daughter got married i called her oh sin in law

I'm not married and call his parents my in laws.
Son-in-law is perfectly ok. My grandson's partner has a child from a previous partner but I still refer to her as my Great Grandaughter.

Thank you all for your answers.
I'll continue to use "daughter's partner" in most situations.
