The lovely mum of our only grandchild has recently been left by my son. No complaints as to the way he's acting (apart from leaving her that is), signed the house over to her, paying over £1,000 per month for his child. Looks after the child between 2 - 4 days/nights per week. Divorce nearly finalised. Is she still my daughter in law? Hope so. Love her. And I think she loves us.... we help as much as we can, i.e. look after our grandchild 1 day per week, overnight when our son can't, and any other day as required. She does make a 'fuss' of us when we appear and our grandchild is everso glad to see us. Though we do spoil the child I admit... but then, that's our job as grandparents.

there's nothing wrong having a good relationship with someone divorced from a family member :o)
So your question is 'Is she still my daughter in law?' It doesn't matter if she is or she isn't. If you love her you will keep up the relationship.
She doesn't need a title for you to keep on loving her - my Mum carried on regardless when my Brother and his Wife divorced and continued to do so long after he remarried and had children with his new family.
She does not need a title apart from the 'lovely mother' of your grandchild. Keep up the relationship. I wish I could have kept up the relationship with my MIL when my husband decided he wanted to be with a newer model.
Well replied, all.
She's still your grandchild's mother... I get on much better with my ex-in laws now I'm not married to their brother/son - we call each other the out-laws now that we have no formal relationship!
Love is stronger than a piece of paper.
The daughter of your heart maybe?
Daughter in law or not,Its lovely that you can all still get on.
Mr S and I both managed this with our In laws from our first marriages, his MIL used to come over to Wales to spend the weekend with us, she thought the world of him, sadly she passed away before christmas, she was a lovely lady.
We have both been up to Yorkshire to stay with my other in laws and had a great time.
Life is so much happier and a lot easier when people get on with each other. X X
